Now that the month of January is behind us, we can look forward to the coming months with excitement and great anticipation. We had a record number of our scouts complete the swimming and life saving badge requirements. Kudos to all that came down and worked on their badges, and the adults that made it possible.
This month we look towards computer classes, merit badge sessions in personal management, computers and Citizenship in the nation and more. Our outing this month will be taking us upstate for a bit to Clear Lake, but not to be outdone, March will see us skiing in Pa, and April will find us at the Jersey Shores Camporee at Six Flaggs, Great Adventure yet again!
Keeping in step with the 12th point of the Scout Law, we had a great turnout this past week at Scout Sunday at St. Josephs, and look forward to a big turnout this coming week at Temple Beth El in Patchogue for Scout Sabbath, and further down the road we expect the Bishops troop (that would be us now, wouldn't it!) to have just as heavy a turnout when we are invited for a Scout day at the Catholic Seminary in Huntington, NY.
With the great success last year of our mentoring program, we have decided to make it an annual program and look eagerly to its continued success thru the coming months. This is a wonderful opportunity to watch our scouts learn to learn, learn to teach, and learn to lead!
Again, To all our Scouts taking the SAT exams in the coming weeks, we offer our prayers and good wishes for each and every one of you to do well and excel! We all know that our scouts work hard in all they do, and this is no exception. On your path to Eagle, remember that your duty to your country as a student is to do as well in school as you can. You all have our support in this and good luck!
